For Training
| Contact CoursesWhile this qualification will remain as a distance learning package one day contact courses will be offered for students to attend with a view of having attendees completing their assessment assignments.
Does this mean that you have to attend a contact course to gain your Flooring Planning & Design qualification? No, you can still continue to do all your learning and assessments by distance through the National Flooring School just like you are currently doing. Will it cost more to attend a contact course? Apart from needing to arrange a day away from the workplace and travelling to the venue there will not be an extra cost to you. Where will these courses take place? Current these are being held in Dunedin, Christchurch, Palmerston North and Auckland. Depending on numbers signing up to the FPD qualification this may change especially if a region increases their student numbers. How will I know what course to attend? The courses will be based on the Module you are currently completing. Once the planning has been completed you will be contacted by your tutor and/or the ITO to offer you the chance to attend. So all I need to do is turn up on the day? As the courses will only be for one day and it will include you completing your assessments, you will need to come prepared. This will mean having pre-read your Module content and basically being ready to sit your assessment. A general review of the Module material will occur but it will not be sufficent for you to successfully complete your assessment especially when you get to the Demonstrate Knowledge Of unit standards found in Modules 2 and 4. So being prepared will be vital to your success on the day.
